FAQ

Frequently asked questions: Canopy

Is your canopy suitable for sports other than padel?

The Woodpad can cover a large area and is thus suitable for a wide range of sports including padel, tennis, climbing, squash, badminton and 5-a-side football.

What is the canopy made of?

The weight bearing structure is made up of wood beams sourced from sustainable forests. This is covered by a single or dual PVC Membrane.

How many padel courts can the Woodpad cover?

The standard Woodpad design covers from two to six courts in asingle span structure. Larger structures and spans are available; we recently quoted for an 85m by 35m Woodpad.

When will I get my order?

Typically the project starts 120 days from payment.

What is the guarantee?

There is a 10 year manufacturer's warranty.

What are the options available?

The perimeter of the building can optionally include a PVC wall. This completely encloses the building from the outside elements. However, this can be drawn back on hot days to allow the air to flow through.

Other options include a dual membrane to help insulate the playing environment and reduce condensation,

Metal insulated sandwich panels can replace the PVC for better sound proofing and insulation.

Extractor fans at the ends of the building help to remove hot air in the summer and reduce condensation.

What colours are available?

White is often the most popular choice because it blends in to the skyline and allows the transmission of light inside the playing environment. The transluscent sky slice can be used to increase the amount of light transmission inside.

The PVC membrane comes in the following colours:

Frequently asked questions: UK Padel Sand

Is your sand from the UK?

Yes, our sand is all collected in the UK. Many suppliers ship their sand from Europe emitting more carbon emissions and increasing the cost of the product.

Is your sand tournament quality?

Yes. Our sand is high-quality silica sand with a specific grain size between 0.2 and 0.5 mm. This ensures the correct balance of grip, ball bounce, and court durability required for professional play.

Key quality requirements include:

Composition: The sand is silica sand (SiO2). This composition prevents the growth of organic organisms and fungi, ensuring the court remains in good condition in various weather conditions. It must not be "beach sand," which has different properties and can retain moisture.

Grain Size (Granulometry): The uniform grain size is within the recommended range of 0.2 to 0.5mm for use with textured artificial turf, which is common in modern professional courts.

Shape: The sand grains are round to provide the appropriate balance of traction and smooth movement, reducing the risk of injury and preventing excessive abrasion of the artificial turf fibres.

Cleanliness: The sand is clean and washed with water and without chemical additives, to maintain the integrity of the court surface. Furthermore the sand is Oven-dried quartz sand to ensure it is free from moisture and contaminants.

Function: The primary function of the sand is to stabilize the artificial turf, control the ball's speed and bounce, and provide necessary traction for players to move safely and quickly.

How often should I sand the courts?

You should sand the courts regularly. At least once every 3 months but ideally once a month or more.

How much sand should I put on the court?

This depends on whether this is the first time you have sanded the courts and also on how regularly you have sanded them. Remember the principle that you can always add more sand but it is hard to take it away? Too much sand and it becomes slippery. Not enough sand and you lose both the bounce and protection for the astroturf.

You should follow the guidelines of the turf manufacturer you are using but a new court needs approximately 2.5 to 3 tonnes of silica sand.

If you are replenishing the sand you will need around 200kg per court on a monthly basis.

When will I get my order?

Typically the order is delivered within 5 working days. If you need the order faster please get in touch.

There is a 10 year manufacturer's warranty.
